Beginning of Year Technology Setup
The purpose of this website is to provide information about setting up your classroom for the beginning of each year.
Teacher Steps to Success
Step 1: Check your phone
DO NOT MOVE PHONES. The phone is associated with a classroom/office for 911 purposes.
If you are in the same room as you were last year, everything remains the same. If you find your phone does not have the correct extension, speak to your office manager to see the status of campus phone extension completion.
If you need to change your voicemail message, use this user guide:
Change voicemail for principals, teachers, and staff: (Default password is 1357)
Dial your district phone number.
Once your voicemail picks up press *
You will hear “Enter your ID (extension of your district phone) Followed by #”
You will hear “Enter your pin followed by #”
Press 2 to access your mailbox
At this point, you have accessed your mailbox. Go ahead and press # followed by a * to cancel the submenu
Press 4 for setup options. At this point, you will hear the option to change your voicemail greeting
Step 2: Printer/Copier
All printers can easily be installed with the click of your mouse!
Canon Copiers:
uniFLOW SecurePrint is a “Find-Me” printer that will hold your print job until you go to a printer(Canon) to release it regardless of location. “Find-Me” lets you go to any uniFLOW canon in the district to release your job. Holding your job until you are there helps avoid waste, mix-ups, or privacy concerns. This creates a more secure system for data, saves the district money with centralized printing costs, and is environmentally responsible by lowering our carbon footprint.
Other Network Printers:
From File explorer type in the following: \\nisdprintsrv
The printers in the district will be listed - Click on your printer link and it will begin to install.
You must be in-network (on an NISD campus) for this to work.

Step 3: Classroom Presentation Set Up
TV/Projector
Your projector /TV is set up and ready to use. Watch this video to explain how to setup your TV in your classroom.
TV Remote - If you do not have a TV remote in your classroom, reach out to the office manager.
HDMI - This is the only cord that is needed to connect your TV and audio. If you are missing HDMI cables, contact your office manager.
iPad
NISD App Store - Verify your iPad has the app titled "Moysle School" which is like an NISD-specific App Store. If your iPad does not have the Moysle School app, follow these Instructions and FAQs for setting up your NISD iPad.
Mobile Educator - Use your iPad to be mobile in the classroom! Visit itresources.nisdtx.org to learn more about getting started Annotate.net, AirServer, and Pear Deck.
iPad Stand - To use your iPad as a document camera, request an iPad stand by submitting a HelpDesk ticket if your classroom does not already have one.
Step 4: Gradebook Set Up
Teacher Access Center Resources
1) Your gradebook categories should already be configured. Summative assessments account for 60% of the quarter, semester, or final grade, while formative assessments make up 40%. If you notice that your gradebook is not set up correctly, please submit a helpdesk ticket BEFORE adding any assignments.
2) If a student has a schedule change into your class from another one, you will see a "sun" icon next to their name. Please be sure there are assignment landing spots for each grade and then click the sun icon to choose the assignments to import into your gradebook. You must do this BEFORE manually entering any grades for the new student.
3) Be sure to follow district Grading Guidelines. If you have questions regarding grades, please speak with your campus grading principal.

Step 5: Update your Email Signature
Having an email signature is an important step to clearly identify yourself in several communication areas. These instructions will walk you through setting up your email signature so that all recipients know your name, role, and campus.
Web-based Platforms
Go to portal.nisdtx.org to access digital materials and resources. Watch this video to learn more about adding additional applications to your Portal.
Resources in the Portal are assigned based on job code; this means the apps in your Portal are differentiated based on your role.
Expect full access to digital resources around the first week of August.
Downloaded Software
District-approved software for Windows devices is available through the Company Portal. If you need additional software not listed go to helpdesk.nisdtx.org.
Step 7: Chromebooks
Elementary Chromebooks: Each classroom has a Chromebook tower installed that will securely store your classroom devices. Chromebook allocation will match your enrollment numbers to ensure a 1:1 device standard kindergarten through fifth grade . Please enter a helpdesk ticket if a new student comes in or if you need an additional devices to match enrollment numbers.
Secondary Chromebooks: Chromebooks are given to students in 6th grade and they keep this device throughout their enrollment. New to NISD students can pick Chromebooks up on campus during the first week of school. If they need technical assistance they can stop by the campus tech room during lunches and before school.
Step 8: Know how to report Phishing emails
At times malicious attacks or phishing emails come through that try to get information from employees by getting them to click on harmful links or attachments. Click "Report" in your top navigation outlook menu to if an email is suspicious to report any email as phishing. You can also forward the email to phishing@nisdtx.org.
Step 9: How do I purchase additional digital materials?
Contact your office manager for assistance.
Step 10: Make and receive calls from your district phone number on various devices (cell, laptop, iPad)
WebEx for making phone calls from your mobile device is ready! The end result is that you can take office calls on your cell phone, laptop or iPad. If you need to call a parent, but can’t be at your desk, this app is for you!
Instructions for installing WebEx: Go to your app store and download the app named “WebEx”. This is NOT the Webex Meeting. Log in with your NISD credentials and you are ready to go.
Disclaimer: Please know this is a supplemental tool and not intended to replace your desk phone.
Additionally, the WebEx app is not intended for 911 calls.

Office Managers, Secretaries, and Administrative Assistants Steps to Success

You will need access to Google drive for registration, PowerSchool enrollment online, Laserfiche and the student repository. If you are having issues accessing any of these please enter a helpdesk ticket for assistance.

When establishing initial contact with a vendor or provider of a digital platform, digital textbook, digital materials, or other digital resources, these “make or break” questions will let you know if the resource can be used in NISD.
